What You Need to Know About the Bill That Could Erase 42,000 Georgia Jobs

Today, Congress is voting on a bill that could pull the rug out from under Georgia’s economy, and most people don’t even know it’s happening.
Let’s break it down.
What’s Happening?
These credits weren’t just about climate, they were about careers.
Because of them, Georgia currently has:
51 clean energy projects
$28 billion in new investments
42,000 projected jobs
All of that is at risk if this bill passes.
And this isn’t just speculation.
“Repealing these credits would not only cost Georgia 42,000 jobs, it would gut $28 billion in private investment across our state, much of it in rural areas that need it most.”
Why It Matters (Even If You Don’t Work in Clean Energy)
This isn’t just about factories. It’s about all the jobs that come with them.
Construction crews who build the facilities
Restaurants and small businesses that serve the workers
Transportation and logistics jobs that support production
Black business owners hoping to become suppliers
When we lose clean energy investments, we don’t just lose new careers, we lose the ripple effect they bring to every corner of the economy.
What This Means for Black-Owned and Small Businesses
Clean energy projects don’t just create jobs, they create entire local economies.
When a factory breaks ground, it brings new demand for:
Catering, janitorial, and transportation services
Security and logistics contracts
Restaurants, coffee shops, and salons
Local trades and construction firms
Child care providers and real estate agents
Black-owned and small businesses often make up these support networks. But without the anchor projects, these opportunities never come. These federal clean energy programs also helped open doors for minority-owned businesses to finally become federal vendors and subcontractors.
Repealing these credits slams those doors shut before many could even step through.
This isn’t just about energy. It’s about access. It’s about economic justice. And it’s about who gets left out again when investments are pulled back.
This bill may not have “Project 2025” written on it, but make no mistake, it’s built on the same agenda.
Project 2025 is a 900+ page far-right policy blueprint designed to:
Dismantle the Department of Energy’s clean energy work
Repeal the Inflation Reduction Act (where these tax credits came from)
Slash climate funding and small business support
Give power back to corporations and fossil fuel interests
What’s happening in Congress today is part of that plan.
The National Impact
If this bill becomes law:
The U.S. could fall behind China and the EU in the global clean energy race
Energy prices could go up, and local economies, especially in rural communities, could be devastated
This is about our future. Our independence. Our communities.

Why I’m Talking About Georgia
Because that’s where I live. That’s where I organize. That’s where I build.
We all have to start with our state. If we want to protect our communities, our businesses, and our futures, we must begin right where we are.
Georgia’s economy is worth fighting for. And I’ll keep showing up for it.
